Where is your hometown?

I’m originally from the northern Virginia area (Sterling,VA), and moved and grew up in Goldsboro, NC.

What is your educational background?

BS, Behavioral and Social Sciences, North Carolina Central University (NCCU) | MA, Career Counseling and Placement, NCCU

What do you like most about your role?

I enjoy having a front-row seat to see students journey from academia to the professional world. I enjoy seeing students develop their skill sets, gain confidence, and secure employment and graduate school placements. I also enjoy the constant evolution of the professional landscape and the opportunity to stay ahead of the curve. It’s exciting to be at the forefront of career development and to help students prepare for a future that’s full of possibilities.

What do you do away from work?

Away from work I enjoy spending time with family. You’ll find me coaching/attending my son and daughter’s YMCA sports game. I’m a huge sports fan, go Steelers!

What is your favorite quote?

“Without commitment, you’ll never start. But more importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish.”

What advice would you give to your college-age self?

Three things:

  1. Lean into your strengths, get out of your comfort zone, and bet on yourself!
  2. Also, you don’t need to have everything figured out from day one.
  3. Try new things – there’s a beauty in exploring multiple interests and figuring out things organically. Learn from new people, be curious, and be willing to learn as you go.
