Handshake: Your Top Resource

Handshake is the best place to begin your job search. It’s built specifically for Wake Forest students, and employers looking to hire WFU talent post their opportunities there — some exclusively. Complete your profile, career interests, and turn on your alerts to get a tailored dashboard and be matched with opportunities and events that fit what you’re looking for.

This is the most important thing you can do before you start applying. A strong profile is what gets you in front of recruiters — and gets the right opportunities in front of you.

  1. Complete the Profile Add skills, relevant coursework, and prior experience. Recruiters filter by these fields. Your profile needs at least 1 skill, 1 employer, and 1 work experience.
  2. Set Career Interests This tells Handshake’s algorithm exactly which roles to put in your feed — and ensures you receive tailored information, resources, and opportunities from the OPCD. Interests evolve, so revisit and update these at the start of every semester.
  3. Turn on Alerts Set saved searches so internship and job opportunities are delivered directly to you — saving you time and frustration.
