The Big News:
I received an internship through the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers, Non profit internship program. It is an eight week paid internship that allows you to match with a nonprofit. The non-profit I am working for is the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association, as the communications chair. I also received a three week paid fellowship from my scholarship Golden Door Scholars, which will allow me to further explore and work on my professional skills.
How OPCD Helped:
I received help from coaches to work and tailor my resume in order to apply to both programs. Professor Heidi also helped me with figuring out my best options. I was part of her Edu 220 class that supplied many resources, from preparing myself for interviews to listening to motivational lectures.
Most Excited About:
I am most excited about coming out with experience and getting a sense of a work environment. I am hoping to get an insight of what my future could hold as a communications major.
Feelings in a Few Words:
I feel very blessed for my summer opportunities.
