What advice would I give to my college self?
Trust the Universe. Things are unfolding as they should.
What do you do away from work?
I am an avid podcast listener, dog enthusiast, and amateur trainer, and my favorite thing in the whole world is time with my husband, sons, family, and friends.
What do I like about my role?
Helping students understand and translate their own unique talents, skills and strengths to gain opportunities and life experiences that matter to them… THAT is oxygen.
Favorite (e.g, place, hobby outside of work)
I love salt water, getting my fingers in the dirt with a special fondness for plants native to North Carolina, board games with family and friends, and making my Grammie’s recipes.
Dr. Heidi Robinson is the Associate Vice-President of Career Education and Coaching in the OPCD. She is also an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Education and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Heidi oversees the OPCD’s career coaches and teaches and directs the College-To-Career series of online and in-person courses offered by the Department of Education. Heidi’s PhD is in Educational Administration with a concentration in higher education. Her dissertation and research focus on career readiness, student-athletes, and first-generation student-athletes. Heidi is an alumna of Wake Forest University, where she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling. Students receive course credit to explore personal attributes that influence future academic, professional, and career opportunities decisions, and to consider the factors that create a meaningful, fulfilling life after Wake Forest. Universities nationwide have consulted on the curriculum.
On campus, Heidi serves on the Partners Council for Leadership and Character. Students and peers have recognized her work. She was awarded the Mike Ford Servant-Leader Award, and separately, the Thrive Dimension Champion for Emotional Wellbeing on campus for her work and commitment to students. In addition, she was selected as the faculty inductee into the Omicron Delta Kappa Society in recognition of her leadership and commitment to students. Both of Heidi’s sons completed their undergraduate and graduate degrees at Wake Forest. In the Winston-Salem community, Heidi has served two terms as a board member for The Shalom Project.
