He also liaises between business and technology stakeholders to create requirements and determine feasibility and complexity of implementation goals.

 

What advice would you give students who have an interest in consulting?

Seek out leadership positions, learn how to solve problems, and familiarize yourself with current events.

 

What WFU career resources did you utilize that were most helpful to you?

Career fairs, resume reviews, and practices for behavioral and case study interviews

 

What courses, activities or experiences gave you an edge in the job search process?

Serving in an executive position for the club baseball team helped me a great deal. The “Qualitative and Quantitative Analytics” course in the Political Science department helped because it gave me the ability to process and understand data.

 

What specific advice would you give regarding effective networking?

Do your research on the person you are looking to network with. Review their LinkedIn, read the company website on initiatives they are undertaking, and come prepared with relevant questions.

 

What specific advice would you give to students regarding effective interviewing?

Come prepared with multiple examples of when you were faced with a problem and the steps you took to solve it. Be sure to demonstrate your ability to think critically, receive feedback, and work with a multitude of people and personalities.

 

Are there any books, magazines, websites, etc. that you would recommend to students who are interested in consulting?

Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, etc., Case in Point

Don’t be afraid to fail. Learn from your experiences, and try something new when given the opportunity.
